Red Sox vs Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays will try to stop a two-game losing streak when they host the World Series champion Boston Red Sox this afternoon. Former Blue Jay David Wells gets a second straight start against a former club after falling to Randy Johnson and the New York Yankees on Sunday, while Toronto will rely on the arm of Roy Halladay. In 17 career starts against the Red Sox, Halladay is 5-6 with a 4.60 ERA.

Ryan Freel of the Red's Monday night DUI - Daily DUI
Unfortunately for the Reds, they have very recent experience in dealing with a player's arrest on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

As the organization determines its course of action in the wake of Ryan Freel's Monday night arrest in Bellevue, Ky., expect the Reds to generally follow the plan they enacted when minor-leaguer Bubba Nelson faced DUI charges during spring training. Though team officials wouldn't comment Tuesday on potential disciplinary action against Freel, the utility player almost certainly will not be suspended and probably will not be fined a significant amount, if at all. Way to go Red's lets not try to deter this at all ok? A simple slap on the writst will do. More on this story at

Miss Cleavage
Miss Cleavage A BLONDE winner of The English Newspapers The Sun’s Miss Cleavage contest left a rival scarred for life after attacking her in a jealous frenzy.

Kerry McCormack went berserk when she spotted Hayley Marsden proudly showing off her new boob job in a nightclub.

McCormack punched 22-year-old Hayley in the face with such force that a ring on her finger shattered the pretty brunette’s cheek and smashed her eye socket.

The blow was so hard that McCormack, who had been knocking back vodka, shattered a knuckle.

Wow This is great, maybe we finally found an opponent for Tyson. More on this great story here at TheSun.

It's RaceBook Gambling Time

Horse Racing

Lets get at it shall we? Ever wanted to know how the whole horse race gambling thing worked? Well now is your chance to learn. Check back over the next week for our updating lesson in how to gamble on the horses.

Part 3 - Trifecta

With this bet you must pick the first three finishing horses in the order of their finish. In other words, you must pick the horse that wins, the horse that finishes second and the horse that finishes third.

The simplest form of this wager is the Straight Trifecta, which is a single combination of the first three finishers. The minimum bet for a Straight Trifecta is $2. To purchase, simply tell the clerk: "$2 Trifecta on 1-2-3." A Trifecta is not offered in all races at all tracks (refer to program).

NOTE: This wager is also called the "Triple" at some tracks.

Trifecta Box

The trifecta box has a $1 minimum bet per combination -- $6 minimum total cost. You can box three or more horses on a single ticket and wager $1 (or more) on each combination.

Example: To purchase a $1 Trifecta Box using four horses, tell the clerk: "$1 Trifecta Box 11-2-3-4."

The following examples are for a $1 Trifecta Box:

3 horse box ( 6 combinations) Cost $ 6
4 horse box ( 24 combinations) Cost $ 24
5 horse box ( 60 combinations) Cost $ 60
6 horse box (120 combinations) Cost $120
7 horse box (210 combinations) Cost $210

Trifecta Key

The Key Wager requires the Key horse to finish FIRST with any combination of two or more horses finishing second and third. For example, if your key horse is #5 and your other horses are #'s 2, 4 and 6, you will win if #5 finishes first and two of your other three horses finish second and third.

Example: To make the bet, tell the clerk: "$1 Trifecta Key #5 on top of 1, 2 and 3," and the ticket will cost $6. If four horses were coupled with the Key horse, the cost would have been $12, etc.

Trifecta Full Wheel

You may select one or two horses to finish in a given position and combine your selection with all possible combinations. The number of combinations will vary according to the total number of horses in the race.

Example # 1: If you pick #6 to finish first in a 12-horse field and want to have $1 per combination, tell the clerk: "$1 Trifecta 6-All-All." The total cost of the ticket is $110.

Number of horses in race: 8 9 10 11 12
Cost in this Example: $42 $56 $72 $90 $110

The trifecta part wheel is offered at a $1 minimum bet per combination -- $2 minimum total cost. It is now possible to make a Trifecta wager coupling one or more horses to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Example: You want #4 and #7 in the win position, #1, #9, and #11 in place position, and #2 and #5 in the show position to bet $1 on each combination, tell the clerk: "$1 Trifecta Part Wheel 4 and 7 with 1, 9 and 11 with 2 and 5." There are 12 possible combinations in the bet for a cost of $12. To win, the 4 or 7 must finish first, the 1, 9 or 11 must finish second and the 2 or 5 must finish third.

Finally We Have Golf Today

Chris DiMarco the only American in the top 10 has opened up a 2 shot lead at the Masters this morning as 2nd round play finally resumed. Other notables include Tiger making a charge -2 so far in the 2nd round, and you can catch all the action by launching the on-demand leaderboard from

he field will be cut after the second round to low 44 and ties, plus all the golfers within 10 strokes of the leader, and re-paired for the third round.

Once the second round is concluded, the third round will begin. The forecast for Saturday and Sunday's final round is much improved. The PGA Tour has had its share of weather-related interruptions, delays, suspensions, and rescheduling in 2005. To date, nine of 15 events have - at some point - have been plagued by inclement weather.

WPT - The Faces Behind The Cards - Part I

The Players

Here are just a few of the fascinating poker faces you will see during the tournaments of Travel Channel's World Poker Tour. As these quick personality sketches attest, the competitive field is definitely changing. It's not just a man's world, and if you thought the game was an all-American pass-time, take a look at the talent from Costa Rica, Switzerland, Vietnam and England.

CHRIS FERGUSON, a Ph.D. in computer science and the 2000 World Champion, calls Pacific Palisades, Calif., home. Instantly recognizable with his trademark long black hair, Chris says he aspires to be a "professor of game theory at a major university."

LAYNE FLACK of Las Vegas is the blond, 30-something player on the tour and is said to have no fear at the table. At the 2002 World Championships, he won two gold bracelets back-to-back.

JULIAN GARDNER hails from Manchester, England. With the magic he works at the table, he might as well be called the "Harry Potter of Poker." He turned pro the moment he left high school, and is the youngest millionaire in the sport.

PHIL GORDON, originally from Texas, has recently taken up residence in Las Vegas. A tall, dark-haired, millionaire, "child prodigy," Gordon graduated from college at age 20, worked on artificial intelligence projects for the military, and cashed out of the bubble for a cool $96 million.

JENNIFER HARMAN, age 24, may be diminutive at 5 feet 2 inches, but she's not demure at the poker table. To many, she's not just the best female player on the planet, but one of the best players — period. She's a regular at the biggest poker game in the world at Las Vegas' Bellagio. Harman says she's "a perfectionist when it comes to poker. The hard part is realizing that it's a game that you can never play perfectly."

PHIL HELLMUTH JR., of Palo Alto, Calif., has a jewelry collection that includes six world championship event bracelets. He is a staple at final tables, and his fondest wish is to develop a greater understanding and enthusiasm for poker in the general public.

JOHN HENNIGAN, a former pool hustler from Philadelphia, is a top player who's made it to at least one World Poker Tour final table. He's known as one of the coolest guys in the game.

PHIL IVEY is the first black poker superstar in a sport traditionally dominated by white males. With this young, handsome, quietly elegant player, poker may have found its Tiger Woods. Ivey will appear in at least two World Poker Tour final tables.

HOWARD LEDERER is a top-line action player who happens to be the brother of another elite player, Annie Duke. He's a frequent tournament winner, who dropped out of college to become a chess master.

KATHY LIEBERT grew up in Long Island, N.Y., and has a B.S. degree in business. She briefly worked as an analyst for Dunn and Bradstreet and studied law before finding her true calling, professional poker. Since then, she's become a major player in big-league tournament poker and ranks high on the money list for women.

DANIEL NEGREANU is a young Canadian who moved to Las Vegas to play poker full-time. In 1998, at 23, he became the youngest world championship event winner in history. Negreanu is considered one of the most eloquent spokespersons for the sport.

MEN NGUYEN escaped by boat from Vietnam, living in a refugee camp before arriving in Los Angeles in 1978 not knowing a word of English. He discovered poker on a trip with friends to Vegas, and the rest is history. He's made final tables hundreds of times and been in the winner's circle more than 80 times, including two Hall of Fame tournaments. Nguyen is a Buddhist who donates part of his winnings to build orphanages in Vietnam.

SCOTTY NGUYEN also escaped Vietnam by boat. He's the consummate cool guy at the tables, and you'll see him at more than one final table in the World Poker Tour.

AMARILLO SLIM PRESTON of Amarillo, Texas, is the last of the great old-time poker stars. This tall, thin Texan wears a cowboy hat and is always ready with a one-liner.

Finally some Hockey
Since I'm from Canada this is big news to me. The World championship of hockey in Austria is almost here. General manager Steve Tambellini will announce Canada's roster for the men's world hockey championship in Austria on Monday. Players will attend a five-day training camp in Calgary beginning Wednesday. Exhibition games will be played against the United States in Halifax on April 20 and in Quebec City on April 22. The roster will be made up mostly of World Cup and world championship returnees from 2004, such as goaltenders Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Roberto Luongo of the Florida Panthers. Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars is believed to be the No. 3 goalie.

Expected to be named on defence are Ed Jovanovski of the Vancouver Canucks, Chris Phillips and Wade Redden of the Ottawa Senators, Robyn Regehr of the Calgary Flames, Scott Hannan of the San Jose Sharks and Sheldon Souray of the Montreal Canadiens. The forwards should include Brendan Morrison of the Canucks, Dany Heatley of the Atlanta Thrashers, Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Joe Thornton of the Boston Bruins, Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby of the Detroit Red Wings, and six-time world championship veteran Ryan Smyth of the Edmonton Oilers.
