The Quarterback Release Movement gains momentum

Bledsoe

Where will we see Drew Bledsoe end up with this latest news coming out of Buffalo? The Giants? Lions? 49ers? Bears? Tampa? I guess we'll see within a couple weeks. I don't think Drew stays a Free Agent For long. With the Buffalo Bills poised to elevate second-year quarterback J.P. Losman to the starting job for 2005, it has been confirmed that the team will announce the release of 12-year veteran Drew Bledsoe on Wednesday afternoon, allowing him to become a free agent and continue his career with another team.

Game Summary - ESPN.com

The decision to move forward with Losman, a first-round choice in 2004 who missed most of the season while recovering from a broken leg, was actually made weeks ago. But club officials, particularly in discussions between Bledsoe and coach Mike Mularkey last week, afforded the classy veteran the opportunity to consider returning to the team as a backup, and at a reduced salary.

Other Free Agents Qb's to watch for getting released include, Kurt Warner, Garcia (next Tuesday), Griese, and Brad Johnson from Tampa Bay, when we find out more we'll let you know.

Nascar - Daytona 500 This weekend
Daytona 500

NASCAR Sportsbook - MySportsbook.com - Sportsbook - Racebook - Casino & Online Poker Rooms - Bet on the Dayton 500 Today!!!!!!

Welcome to the 2005 NASCAR racing season. The competition begins for real on Friday night with the Craftsman Truck Series and ends on Sunday when the "big boys" arrive for the main event - the 47th running of the Daytona 500.

The teams have readied themselves for the 47th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 20th amid another year of change.

In 2004, the series saw the end of a 30-year relationship with the R.J. Reynolds Co. and the seamless beginning of another with Nextel. It also saw the implementation of a new title format and the advent of the 10-race "Chase for the Championship."

Last year saw the semi-retirement of 16-time Most Popular Driver Award winner Bill Elliott. This year we will see another gentleman leave the series - Terry Labonte will run only a partial schedule in 2005.

Two more stalwarts will make their final tours around the country. Veterans Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace have made the decisions to move on after the 2005 season. Their decisions were probably made easier by the emergence of a young group of drivers who have changed the sport.

FBI alerted MLB - RE: Drugs

An FBI agent says federal investigators warned Major League Baseball about 10 years ago that some of its players were using steroids, but baseball executives failed to act on the information, the Daily News reported.

In Tuesday's editions, the Daily News reported that a special agent in Ann Arbor, Mich., told baseball security chief Kevin Hallinan that Jose Canseco and other players were using illegal anabolic steroids.

"I alerted Major League Baseball back in the time when we had a case, that Canseco was a heavy user and that they should be aware of it," Special Agent Greg Stejskal told the Daily News. "I spoke to the people in their security office, Hallinan was one of the people I spoke to."

A pair of paintings from the famed series depicting dogs playing poker fetched nearly $600,000 at auction Tuesday.

The two works _ "A Bold Bluff" and "Waterloo" _ were among 16 paintings that artist Cassius Marcellus Coolidge was commissioned to create for a Minnesota-based advertising company in 1903. Of the 16, nine are of dogs playing poker.

Poker Basics Part 2 - Hand Strength

The hands are ranked as follows:
Royal Flush - which is a series of cards, all of the same suit ranking Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Straight Flush - a five card sequence where all the cards are of the same suit. For instance, 5,6,7,8,9 of diamonds is a Straight Flush. If two straights should tie, the one containing the highest card wins. Should both hands contain the same high card, the pot is split.

Four-of-a-Kind - Four cards of the same rank with one other card of varying rank. The highest ranking Four-of-a-Kind would win in case of a tie.

Full House - is a hand comprised of both a three-of-a-kind (three cards with the same rank) and a pair (two cards with the same rank). An example would be K-K-K-6-6. If two full house hands should tie, the hand containing the higher three-of-a-kind wins. (5-5-5-2-2 beats 3-3-3-A-A)

Flush - consists of 5 cards of the same suit. In the case of a tie, the hand with the highest card wins. Should the high cards be the same rank, the next highest cards are compared (and so on).

Straight - five cards in sequence, of mixed suits. Should straights tie, the hand with the highest card wins. Should the hands be identical in rank, the pot is split. "Around the corner" (K-A-2-3-4) straights are NOT allowed.

Three-of-a-Kind is three cards of the same rank with two other cards of varying rank (not a pair). The highest ranking three-of-a-kind would win in the event of a tie.

Two Pair - A hand that contains two cards of one rank, two cards of another rank, and a dissimilar fifth card. Ties are awarded to the higher of the "high" pair, followed by the higher of the "low" pairs, and finally by the remaining card.

One Pair - A hand that contains one set of cards with the same rank. Highest pair wins ties. If both pairs are the same, highest card wins. Followed by next highest card and so on.

High Card - the weakest of poker hands. The highest ranking card wins the pot. In the event of a tie, the next highest card wins, and so on.

Fresh off a victory Wednesday over Bucks, Detroit can keep their momentum going with a win Wednesday on the road at Philadelphia.

Philadelphia brings a 26-26 overall mark (6-3 in the division) into this game vs. a Detroit team carrying a 31-19 record. Philadelphia gets its chance to prove the bookies wrong, who opened them as 2.5-point underdogs. They are 26-26, while the Pistons are 31-19. The total opened at 189.5.

Last time out, the Pistons defeated the Bucks 107-83 as 12 point favorites. That contest went over the closing total. Jim O'Brien's troops were at home against the Knicks last game and came away with a 106-105 win, a game that went over 202.5. Oddsmakers had them as 7-point favorites in that one.

Horse Betting Strategy Part 1 -

The challenge of betting on horses is to collect and analyze information and then make a sound judgment on what to bet on, what type of bet to place and how much. To create an opportunity to be a winner, you need to take into account three main factors, analyze them and act on your findings accordingly. These are: The odds offer (Price) The value of the odds (overpriced or under priced?) The type of bet (single, multiple, combination, etc.) The odds offer should be at least 2:1 to make it worthwhile. If necessary, choose a selection with a slightly higher risk to prop up the price. The value of the odds must be such that the sportsbook's commission is to a minimum, if at all. Some selections get 'steamed' unnecessarily. When this happens, the 'favorite' price lengthens. Take advantage of those situations. Three types of bets seem to stand out as a sensible combination to use because they are simple, not too difficult to win and have good winning potential: the Straight bet, the Doubles and the Future.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition - TOO HOT

Supermodels aren't the only ones posing for Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue.

In addition to 20 models, Olympic medallists Jennie Finch, Amanda Beard and Lauren Jackson, retired slugger Mark McGwire and wife Stephanie, and tennis star Venus Williams are included in the edition that hit newsstands Tuesday.

Finch was a star pitcher on the gold medal U.S. Olympic softball team. The former University of Arizona star pitched two shutouts at the Athens Olympics.

Beard won the 200-metre breaststroke in Athens. Jackson, the WNBA scoring leader and 2003 MVP as a member of the Seattle Storm, won a silver medal with the Australian team in Athens.

Other male athletes in the magazine include Miami Dolphins quarterback A.J. Feeley and his girlfriend, Heather Mitts, a member of the U.S. women's soccer team; New Jersey Nets forward Richard Jefferson and his girlfriend; and Dallas Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson and his wife.

Williams posed for the swimsuit issue for the first time. Her sister, Serena, appeared in the 2003 and '04 issues.
