Bledsoe A Cowboy? Its All But Done!

Bledsoe
Is it just me or does anyone see Bledsoe leading the cowboys to a playoff berth under Parcells?? Actually with Glenn, Just throw me the damb ball Johnson, Julius Jones and a stellar offensive line Bledsoe just might stay on his feet this year. Might......

Barring a last-minute breakdown in negotiations, veteran quarterback Drew Bledsoe will be the new starter for the Dallas Cowboys in 2005.

Multiple league sources confirmed Tuesday night that Bledsoe, whose release by the Buffalo Bills became official earlier Tuesday, has reached agreement in principle with the Cowboys on most of the major components of a contract. Bledsoe will fly to Dallas on Wednesday, meet with coaches and team officials, and likely finish the deal. A contract with the Cowboys would reunite Bledsoe with coach Bill Parcells, who brought the quarterback into the league as the first overall selection in the 1993 draft, while with the New England Patriots. If the contract is completed on Wednesday, it would mark one week from the day the Bills announced their intention to cut Bledsoe after three seasons and elevate J.P. Losman to the starter's job. Bonds spouts off

Bonds

Barry Bonds angrily sidestepped questions about his role in baseball's steroid scandal upon his arrival at spring training Tuesday, pronouncing himself weary but ready for another season. ''You guys are like re-running stories,'' said Bonds.

''This is old stuff. It's like watching Sanford and Son. ... It's almost comical, basically.''

Barry Bonds sidestepped a peppering of steroids questions in the very way teams avoid pitching to him - and did it with the same prickly demeanor that has defined him for years.

Bonds angrily avoided inquiries about his role in baseball's steroid scandal upon his arrival at spring training Tuesday, pronouncing himself weary but ready to resume his pursuit of Hank Aaron's home run record. He called reporters liars, and pointed to problems in the world he considers much more important than steroids, such as alcoholism and drug abuse. Bonds was entertaining as usual. Asked directly whether he'd ever used illegal substances, he said: ''I'm not a child. You repeat those things to children and then eventually they tell you. I don't.''

In Bonds' first public comments since his grand jury testimony was leaked to the San Francisco Chronicle and reported in December, he had nothing to say about it, citing legal constrictions. But he had harsh words for the media and fans still consumed by the circumstances of his record-setting home run binge. Full Story Espn

Accenture Match Play Championship

The field was set Monday afternoon for the Match Play Championship. All that remained in doubt was when it would start.

First, heavy rain at Riviera led to the first 36-hole event on the PGA Tour in nine years. On Tuesday, officials delayed the start of the Match Play Championship to give La Costa Resort a chance to drain.

The first round of 18-hole matches now will start Thursday, followed by two rounds each day through Saturday and the 36-hole final match Sunday. "Whatever day we start, I'll be ready to go," two-time defending champion Tiger Woods said. It was the latest twist in the West Coast Swing on the PGA Tour, which already has featured a fog delay at Torrey Pines, a wind delay in Phoenix and a total washout Saturday at the Nissan Open, which eventually led to the tournament being cut short to 36 holes when more rain fell Monday.

The 32 matches originally scheduled for Wednesday will now be played on Thursday for the second straight year. After two rounds on Friday, the quarterfinals and semifinals will be played as scheduled on Saturday. The championship then will be contested over 36 holes at La Costa Resort & Spa on Sunday with an 18-hole consolation match that afternoon.

The 2005 NFL Draft - Consensus First Round Picks

Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers, QB, California

Today we begin our leadup to the NFL Draft. Everyday right here you can preview the top picks for this years big college football entry draft into the the big boys league........the NFL of course. Lets get at it. Aaron Rodgers, QB, from California.....Could we see him go #1 to the SAN FRANCISCO 49ers??

While there doesn't appear to be a clearcut choice at number one, the Niners would be wise to give their offense a facelift, and they can start the process with this 6'2", 200-pound QB who had a productive season at Cal. Rodgers completed 66.1% of his passes for 2566 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. A mild concern might be the Tedford Effect; head coach Jeff Tedford has produced highly-rated college quarterbacks that haven't quite panned out in the NFL (Akili Smith, A.J. Feeley, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller). In my honest opinion Harrington and Boller still have one more grace year however.

Spurs Rockets

San Antonio Spurs can widen the gap between themselves and Houston in the SW Wednesday with a win over the Rockets. The Rockets play into revenge Wednesday, after handing San Antonio a 73-67 defeat in the last meeting back on January 15, 2005. Oddsmakers like the Spurs in this one, opening the line at 9 in favor of San Antonio. They are 41-12 this season, while the Rockets are 32-22.

Last time out, the Rockets lost to the SuperSonics 87-85 as 3 point favorites. That contest went under the closing total. San Antonio won at New Orleans last game as a 10.5 point pic against the Hornets, winning 101-78. The total sailed under.

Some trends to consider:
Rockets are 1-6-0 OU in their last 7 games away against Spurs
Rockets are 1-6-0 OU in their last 7 games against the Spurs
Rockets are 2-6-0 ATS in their last 8 games after being .5 to 3 point favorites
Rockets are 2-6-0 ATS in their last 8 games against the Spurs
Spurs are 16-3-0 SU in their last 19 games after being 10.5 to 14 point favorites
Spurs are 6-2-0 ATS in their last 8 games against the Rockets
Spurs are 14-5-0 SU in their last 19 games after scoring 101 to 110 points
Spurs are 5-2-0 ATS in their last 7 games

NFL Free Agency News

I absolutly love this time of year. You really get a feel for which NFL team really wants to begin the long drive to capturing the next SuperBowl don't you?? I must admit I'm a little shocked by this first move though. Kicker Adam Vinatieri, the hero of two of New England's three Super Bowl victories, was protected by the Patriots on Tuesday by being tagged as the team's franchise player. Shaun Alexander got the same tag from the Seattle Seahawks, who also re-signed quarterback Matt Hasselbeck as many of the NFL's prime potential free agents were taken off the market.

Dallas cut defensive end Marcellus Wiley, one season after he was its top free-agent signee. Some other players released included quarterback Jeff Garcia (by Cleveland), wide receivers Kevin Johnson (Baltimore) and Tim Dwight (San Diego), defensive end Vonnie Holliday (Kansas City) and safeties Omar Stoutmire (New York Giants) and Brian Walker (Detroit). Strong safety Jay Bellamy, re-signed with New Orleans. Bellamy, 32, got a three-year deal.

Free agency begins March 2, but much high-priced dealing already has taken place. Seattle has made the biggest moves, ensuring that three of its top offensive players stayed in town.

Last week, the Seahawks signed left tackle Walter Jones to a seven-year, $52.5-million deal. Hasselbeck's deal is for $49.4 over six years, including a $16-million signing bonus. They also ensured that they can keep Alexander _ or get two first-round picks for him _ by making the running back who finished a yard behind the Jets' Curtis Martin in the NFL rushing race, their designated franchise player. That means he is guaranteed $6.3 million although the Seahawks said they will be working on a long-term deal. All this occurred in the midst of a front-office shakeup _ general manager Bob Ferguson announced his resignation Tuesday.

DUI OF THE DAY - Mariners Sexson apologizes for DUI

It is our sincere hope that by posting a Daily DUI on this website more people take notice and wake up. Cmon people what is it going to take for you to stop drinking and driving??? This issure is one that won't go away. We wish the drinking and driving would though.

We actually don't have a DUI for you today. Nothing good made the newslines. But, we do have a DUI apology. "I'm disappointed, No. 1, in myself," Sexson said Saturday on his first day at spring training with the Mariners. "You want to apologize to every fan that you've had, every fan that you're going to have and every fan that you're going to lose."

As to apologizing for the DUI, he's not ready for that. "We have to make it very clear that I have not received a DUI, nor will I," Sexson said.

Sexson, who signed a four-year, $50 million contract with the Mariners in December, was stopped for speeding on Feb. 5 by a Clark County Sheriff's Deputy Greg Chaney. The deputy filed a report saying he smelled intoxicants and later noticed opened beer containers in the back seat of Sexson's car.

More Great Poker Tips For Newbie Poker Players

The Online Casino Rake - What's The Rake??

We do know of one way that the online world is identical to the vegas strip casino's: namely the way they make money, namely through the rake.

The rake is a small percentage of every pot that the poker sites take (usually 5%, but sometimes as high as 10%). They typically cap the rake at $3. The rake is a good moneymaking mechanism for the house, because losers don’t care where their money goes, and a winner doesn’t mind scooping a $97 pot rather than one worth $100. But the erosion is real and unavoidable.

For tournaments, sites charge a registration fee, usually 10% of the tournament buy-in, that goes directly to the site. A $10 single-table tournament costs you $11. A few sites have a no-flop, no-drop policy. If the site’s Hold ‘Em or Omaha players never see a flop, it doesn’t take a rake. Other sites don’t rake any pot less that one dollar, which is nice for the micro-limit games. To find out about a site’s rake rules, look at the help or about section of the Web site.

You don’t have a way to reduce the rakes directly, but by taking advantage of sign-up bonuses and “bonus bonuses”, you can certainly help reduce their string.

Nascar Grabs Another Advertiser

I'm not down with Nascar because I don't see the thrill of driving a car down a track turning left, then doing it all over again. I do get Nascar...but I don't like Nascar. I'm a fan of Indy cars, Formula 1 and Cart Racing.......but anyways, Nascar is in the news again.....

Sirius Satellite Radio announced today an agreement to broadcast NASCAR racing and establish a 24 hour-a-day, seven- days-a-week satellite NASCAR channel. The five-year deal, set to begin in 2007, will pay NASCAR $107.5 million. "We're thrilled that NASCAR has chosen to move to Sirius," said Mel Karmazin, CEO of Sirius. "Without question, Sirius is the content leader in satellite radio. This decision places Sirius on track to become the content leader in all of radio, and we believe it will be an important driver of subscriber growth and advertising revenue. Our 24/7 NASCAR channel will super-serve NASCAR's 75 million fans nationwide in a way that's never been done before."

NASCAR is the No.2 rated sport on television, behind only the National Football League, but with its 10-month season it provides a better vehicle for sponsor and advertisers. Are you kiddin me? They are? wow. I didn't know rednecks could afford Tv's.
