British Open Update - Woods Shoots a 66

Last hole birdie gives Woods a 66 is all anyone will be talking about today! Tiger Woods took a leaf out of the local teaching manual when his tee shot at the final hole left him a tricky shot through the corner of the Valley of Sin. He took out his putter and judged the severe left-to-right break to perfection as his ball disappeared into the hollow, rolled up the opposite bank and settled within four feet of the hole.

Having dropped two shots in four holes from the 13th, he gladly accepted the last hole birdie to put himself in the clubhouse with a six-under-par round of 66 and a two-shot lead, with a third of the field still waiting to tee off. His playing partners, Jose Maria Olazabal and Robert Allenby, finished on 68 and 70, none of the trio making any progress through the back nine until they reached the final hole. Olazabal shared second place with young British player Luke Donald, South Africa's Retief Goosen and Australian Peter Lonard.

Leaderboard as of 2:15pm GMT. 1 Tiger Woods -6, Luke Donald -4, Retief Goosen -4, Peter Lonard -4, José Maria Olazábal -4, Bart Bryant -3, Michael Campbell -3, Thomas Levet -3, Bob Tway -3, Adam Scott -3, Chris Riley-3, Tino Schuster -3

Dolphins TE Randy McMichael arrested - Do You see a Trend?

Miami Dolphins tight end Randy McMichael is facing charges for the second time in 13 months for allegedly hitting his wife.

McMichael was arrested early Saturday morning in Columbia County after witnesses told police that he had given his wife, Cawanna, a bloody nose. The 26-year-old McMichael was taken to the Columbia County Detention Center, where he was charged with simple battery and criminal trespass. McMichael was released just before 7 a.m. Saturday after posting a $2,200 US bond, according to jail records.

Chiefs' Warfield suspended four games

Chiefs cornerback Eric Warfield has been suspended for the first four games of the 2005 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

The 29-year-old was arrested Sept. 20, 2004 in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kan. Police said Warfield had a blood alcohol level of .189 per cent, more than double the state's .08 per cent legal limit. He pleaded no contest in January to a felony charge of driving under the influence, his third DUI in as many years. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and 80 days of house arrest. His agent, Craig Domann, confirmed the suspension in a statement released Tuesday. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment. Officials with the Chiefs would not comment on specifics, but said the decision was no surprise.

Pacman captured

Tennessee Titans top draft pick Adam (Pacman) Jones surrendered to police Wednesday on charges of assault and felony vandalism stemming from a fight at a nightclub.

Jones was released from custody after posting bail. He did not comment to reporters as he left the jail. A Titans spokesman said the team was aware of the situation and was monitoring it but had no immediate comment. In a court appearance, nightclub owner Robert Gaddy said Jones grabbed his shirt, hit him and broke his necklace after Gaddy asked three of Jones' friends to leave the club. Gaddy told police he asked Jones' friends to leave because "they were smoking drugs.

Finally We've Got Hockey!!!

NHL Done Deal! And now for the words everyone has been waiting to hear:
The deal is done!

The NHL and NHL Players' Association have finally reached an agreement (pending ratification) on a new six-year collective bargaining agreement that - if approved by the NHL board of governors and the rank and file membership of the NHLPA - will officially end the stalemate on Thursday, July 21. When that happens, the league will also hold its Draft Lottery, with 30 teams getting their shot at Sidney Crosby. The agreement, a complex document reportedly numbering more than 600 pages, came after the two sides staged marathon negotiating sessions for 10 consecutive days.

''At the end of the day everybody lost,'' said Phoenix Coyotes managing partner Wayne Gretzky. ''We almost crippled our industry. It was very disappointing what happened. For everyone to say 'all right, let's forgive and forget, let's move forward,' that's all fine and good but it's a lot easier said than done. It's going to take a long of time, it's going to take a lot of hard work."

Assuming both groups ratify, the NHL is expected to begin a brief transition period before the league fully re-opens for business. But before teams and players start to concern themselves with the specifics of transition - such as the buying out of some players to allow teams to meet cap requirements or the attempted signing of 2003 and 2004 draft picks who would re-enter the 2005 entry draft if not signed - the league is expected to unveil significant changes to the game, on and off the ice.

the level of activity and uncertainty will be higher than at any other time in league history. For now, though, the only thing that matters in the short term is this: The deal (pending ratification) is done.
