Who is Sidney Crosby?

Hey hockey fans, and non hockey fans. Don't say we didn't warn you in advance. What with the NHL not playing at all you think we don't think about hockey around here? Check this out. Sidney Crosby signed as the Reebok hockey pitchman today.

Sidney Crosby

Reebok International (NYSE: RBK) has signed a multi-year agreement with Sidney Crosby, the consensus top pick in the next National Hockey League draft, and widely anticipated to be the best player to enter the professional ranks in twenty years. Already immensely popular in his native Canada, Crosby's profile is expected to grow in the United States and around the world when his pro career begins. He will be a major part of Reebok's marketing strategy, both on and off the ice. Profile

Crosby was a force in Team Canada's Gold Medal win at the 2005 IIHF World
Junior Championships earlier this year. The 17-year-old from Cole Harbour,
Nova Scotia is currently the leading scorer in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey
League (QMJHL) as a member of the Rimouski Oceanic. Article Here at

Baseball is right around the corner - Betting Promotions
GiambiJason Giambi hit a homer Monday as New York defeated Boston.

bosox vs yankees Jason Giambi provided most of the juice when the Red Sox played the Yankees on Monday night in the first reunion of the rivals since Boston's epic triumph last fall. New York's designated hitter, the symbol of baseball's steroids problem, arrived at the second annual hugely overhyped exhibition game, gave a mass interview, got a hug from Kevin Millar, took batting practice and signed autographs for 25 minutes. Then, as two men behind the plate screamed "Steroids! Steroids! Steroids!" in the fifth inning, he sent a pitch from left-hander John Halama over the fence in right-center field for his first home run of the spring. Giambi went 2-for-5 in New York's 9-2 win, leaving him with a .250 average (3-for-12) with two RBI. - -

Its March Madness Time - Conference Championship Week

Best Monday Game

Adam Morrison scored 30 points and keyed a big second-half run to lead Gonzaga (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) to an 80-67 victory over Saint Mary's on Monday night in a meeting of the conference's top two teams. Gonzaga like usual are now in the Tournament.

Automatic Tournament Bids

Central Florida 24-8 Won Atlantic Sun
Eastern Kentucky 22-8 Won Ohio Valley
Pennsylvania 18-8 Won Ivy League
UT-Chattanooga 20-10 Won Southern
Winthrop 27-5 Won Big South......

Also getting in this week were Colonial - Old Dominion
MAAC - Niagara
Missouri Valley - Creighton

Championship Week is here, which means 26 conferences from the Northeast to the Southland, from the Western Athletic to the Big East, will decide their tournament champions by Sunday.

That's Selection Sunday to fellow devotees of bracketology and RPI ratings. By Sunday, evening the field for The Dance will be set. Top seeds will be established, and folks from the Palm Beaches to the Keys, interns to investment lawyers, will begin wading into their office NCAA pools. Everyone becomes a college basketball expert this time of year; everyone thinks they can spot this year's Cinderella even though they haven't watched a game all season.

That's because these folks who didn't care about college basketball when the season began in November understand it is March now, and the inevitable is about to happen. They will soon contract the Madness. Hoops Coverage - CBS Sportsline Coverage

2005 NFL free-agency period; 483 free agents

The signing period for unrestricted free agents began March 2 and concludes on July 22 (or the first scheduled day of the first NFL training camp, whichever is later). The signing period for restricted free agents also concludes on April 15.

Our top guys still remaining......

1. Plaxico Burress, WR, Steelers
Plaxico has the size and skills to be a homerun threat for a team that likes to throw deep a lot, unlike the Steelers' "run on first, run on second, run on third offense."

2. Kendrell Bell, ILB, Steelers
To keep him healthy this season, whichever team signs this guy should stick him in a protective bubble for six days of the week, then unleash him on Sundays.

3. Fred Smoot, CB, Redskins
Despite the Redskins' lack of recent success, Smoot continues to build his street cred as one of the league's most dependable cover men.

4. Ed Hartwell, ILB, Ravens
Another quality player lost in the shadows of a great teammate (in this case, LB Ray Lewis), Hartwell will not go unnoticed by teams hurting in the front seven.

Monday's Big Name Free Agent Signings included Cornerback Samari Rolle agreeing to a six-year contract Monday with the Baltimore Ravens, who last week lost Gary Baxter to the Cleveland Browns.

Kenoy Kennedy made it as far as the gate at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The Detroit Lions are just glad he didn't get on the plane. The safety was about to board a flight to Miami to continue his free-agent tour Monday, but had second thoughts. He returned to the Lions' practice facility and signed a contract while the team was introducing another new player - tight end Marcus Pollard.

Safety Dwight Smith, whose versatility made him a key contributor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, signed a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. Arizona signed defensive end Chike Okeafor to a five-year, $25-million US contract Monday, the Cardinals' third big free agent addition in five days. The Miami Dolphins signed two-time Pro Bowl lineman Kevin Carter to a $30-million US, five-year deal Monday and cut David Boston after the receiver failed his physical. Running back Rudi Johnson signed a one-year, $6.3-million contract Monday to stay with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Washington Redskins agreed to terms Monday with special teams ace and backup H-back Mike Sellers. Sellers, a former CFL star with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, finished second on the team with 29 special teams tackles last season. He also had one reception for 14 yards and will return as the backup to H-back Chris Cooley. Coverage

Erasmus James

Heath Miller, TE, Virginia

Everyday right here you can preview the top picks for this years big college football entry draft into the the big boys league........the NFL of course. Lets get at it. Heath Miller, TE, Virginia.....Could we see him go #10 to the Detroit Lions?

In the mold of the new breed of NFL playmaking tight ends, the 6'5", 254-pound Miller led the Cavaliers with 41 catches in 2004, following 70 in 2003. Steve Mariucci's offense tends to feature an effective receiving threat at tight end, and Stephen Alexander is a free agent, opening up a starting position in an offense full of young playmakers.

Memphis (34-25) at Sacramento (37-24)

Tuesday, March 08, 2005 10:00 PM EDT
at Arco Arena Sacramento are 4 point favorites. The total for this game has been set at 193.5.

Fresh off a victory last game over Pistons, Sacramento can stay on a roll Tuesday by wiping the floor with the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis takes its 34-25 mark to Sacramento to rumble with the 37-24 Kings.

Overall, Memphis is 34-25 on the year, while the Kings are 37-24. Mike Fratello's team hopes to build upon a 105-102 win over Clippers. They were 1 point underdogs in a game that went over the total. Rick Adelman's team was busy last game winning against Detroit 100-85 as 2 point pick. The 185 points sent that game under the total of 192. Expect the league's #2 offence to chuck in lots of points and generate trouble for the Grizzlies defence. Averaging 102.7 points per game, the Kings can run up the score if they get on a roll.

Some trends to consider:
Grizzlies are 1-5-0 OU in their last 6 away
Grizzlies are 1-5-0 ATS in their last 6 games after being .5 to 3 point underdogs
Grizzlies are 3-7-0 OU in their last 10 games
Grizzlies are 3-5-1 ATS in their last 9 games
Kings are 6-1-0 OU in their last 7 at home
Kings are 21-5-0 SU in their last 26 games after scoring 90 to 100 points
Kings are 4-1-0 ATS in their last 5 games after being .5 to 3 point underdogs
Kings are 15-6-0 SU in their last 21 games after being .5 to 3 point underdogs

Neuheisel said he feels vindicated by settlement

Rick Neuheisel

Fired Washington football coach Rick Neuheisel left a King County courtroom with a $4.5 million settlement in his lawsuit against the NCAA and university.

New Baltimore Ravens Qb's Coach Rick Neuheisel.

He claimed victory in his 21-month legal battle and put closure to a dispute that had threatened his coaching career.

"I feel fully vindicated," Neuheisel told reporters Monday. "Obviously, they're going to have their stories, too, but I feel like this is the best scenario. Nobody's nose gets bloodied. "The settlement was announced by Superior Court Judge Michael Spearman after five weeks of testimony, just as jurors --reportedly leaning in Neuheisel's favor -- were set to hear closing statements. It capped a lengthy and bitter legal fight, starting with Neuheisel's firing in June 2003, that publicly exposed the NCAA and university to embarrassing administrative gaffes and left Washington's once-proud football program in tatters. Doesn't it seem like every second day here in our Daily DUI spot that its a law enforcement officer that's making the news?? Well today its just a backstreeet boy. I think? Who can tell anymore? Maybe he's a new kid on the block??

More Great Poker Tips For Newbie Poker Players

Texas Holdem has quickly become the most popular casino poker game. It is currently the game you will see televised in such events as the World Series of Poker and The World Poker Tour. Though Holdem looks and plays very simply, many experts agree that it is the most complex of poker games. Due to its complexity, the game can be kind or harsh to beginners and grizzled old warriors alike. The action is fast an furious, with more players, bets, raises and re-raises than many other typical poker games. Winners win big, losers lose big. These factors are the essence of what makes Texas Holdem so enjoyable, and therefore the King at the Casino.

Over the next few days the following is intended to be a basic introduction to and strategy for playing Texas Holdem online. For more in depth articles on this topic, check out our other articles in the Archives section, or visit our sister site,

Texas Holdem - Playing the Turn

The Turn, or 4th Street in Holdem is the first instance where the bets are doubled. You can hear the “cha-ching” in your ears, as you bet those good hands. However, for the beginner, this street can be exceptionally dangerous, as this is where many players complete their straights and flushes, along with all of the other hand possibilites of poker.

If you have played good poker up to this point, at both the pocket card selection and flop, then you should have some idea of whether or not you are ahead or behind in the hand. As a general rule, if you are ahead after seeing this 4th card hit the board, then bet and start building the pot. On the other hand, if you are pretty sure you are behind, this is the prime time to fold your hand, before you start throwing your money away by calling the expensive bets.

Say you were dealt J-J, and you bet aggressively before and after the flop. The flop and turn board looks like this: Q-3-7-A, three of which are diamonds, and unfortunately, you hold the black jacks (spades and clubs). I would fold this hand to any raises. Why? Count how many ways you are beat. An ace, queen, 2 diamonds, or 1 diamond if another shows on the river, plus a remote straight oppurtunity if the river card is a 10, K or another Jack. Those are alot of ways to beat you. Now count how many “outs” you have and what the best possible hand is that you could form. Right now, your best hope is another Jack, giving you three of a kind. Are you willing to call bets and raises when there are only two cards left in the deck that can help you, and even then, still have a shot at getting beat by someone blessed with a diamond flush??

Good poker play before and after the flop gives you the information you need to make the decision on the Turn. Stick with your gut instinct. If you're ahead, bet, and if you're behind, fold. Don't pray for miracle cards. - Online Poker Room Reviews - Rankings and Ratings on over 50 online poker rooms.
