Powerade - Lebron James - Come On People!!!

What I don't get is why are people still actually falling for this one? Judging by the way our inbox fills up every time they come out with a new commercial, we have to say the folks behind the advertising campaign for Powerade (an energy drink produced by the Coca-Cola Company) have been incredibly successful at creating ads with more "buzz" than anyone else.

Their Lebron James latest entry features 20-year-old basketball wunderkind Lebron James of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers sinking a series of four consecutive shots from nearly the full length of a basketball court, about 75 to 90 feet away. "Is this commercial for real?" is the question now popping up in our e-mail several times a day.

Mali Soccer Riot

Mali Soccer

Mali soccer fans rioted in the streets of Bamako in response to their team's 2-1 home World Cup qualifying defeat to Togo on Sunday.
A Togo goal in injury time led the sold-out, 70,000-seat stadium to explode with negative emotion as the score mathematically eliminated the home team from a chance to play in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. After fans stormed the field, police shot tear gas to disperse the crowd. However, the angry fans spilled into the streets of Bamako, the country's capital city. The rioting, which produced 81 arrests, included setting fires and looting shops. There were numerous injuries and many citizens were confronted and robbed. I don't know what you think, but I'm pretty sure this was all for nothing. Do you really think that Mali had a shot, a legitimate shot at making the world cup?? Even scoring a goal in the world cup? What the hell are these people so upset about then??!! What a waste of good tear gas!! Full story here at the Associated Press.

The 2005 NFL Draft - Consensus First Round Picks

Thomas Davis, SS, Georgia Travis Johnson, DT, Florida State

Everyday right here you can preview the top picks for this years big college football entry draft into the the big boys league........the NFL of course. Lets get at it. Travis Johnson, DT, Florida State.....Could we see him go #17 to the Bengals?

While the 6'5", 290-pounder only managed 2.5 sacks, it doesn't mean he's not a penetrator of the highest order. He totalled 50 tackles and 18 tackles for loss, and that should make him an ideal fit for a Bengals defense that needs to improve the calibre of its defensive line play.

NBA Betting Matchup Preview

Kings
76ers

Philadelphia (35-34) at Sacramento (43-28)
Monday, March 28, 2005 10:00:00 PM EDT
at Arco Arena Sacramento are 5 point favorites. The total for this game has been set at 210.

Their last meeting was February 26, 2005 and the 76ers have been waiting for their chance to avenge that 101-99 loss ever since. Philadelphia takes its 35-34 mark to Sacramento to rumble with the 43-28 Kings. In a game that potentially could see plenty of scoring, the total opened high, at 210.5. The line opened at 5 in favor of the Kings.

Jim O'Brien's troops went to Los Angeles last game and came away with a 96-89 win, a game that went under 206.5. Oddsmakers had them as 2 point underdogs in that one. The Kings lost to the Nuggets 113-99 as 7 point underdogs. That contest went under the closing total. Expect the league's #3 offence to chuck in lots of points and generate trouble for the 76ers defence. Averaging 102.6 points per game, the Kings can run up the score if they get on a roll.

Jury selection begins in D-U-I trial of St. Louis Rams Little

Little is facing felony charges for driving under the influence last April in Ladue. A state law allows prosecutors to pursue a felony charge in D-U-I cases if the defendant has been convicted in the past of manslaughter.

LittleLittle pleaded guilty in 1999 of involuntary manslaughter in the death of 47-year-old Susan Gutweiler of Oakville. He admitted that he was drunk that night and received a sentence of 90 days in jail. The judge in the new case has told prosecutors they can't tell jurors about the prior conviction. Little has pleaded not guilty to the newest D-U-I charge. KansasCity.com

Road To The Final 4

Try to make your first Final Four in 27 years better than this past weekend's action. Betcha can't even come close. Four regional finals -- three of them decided in overtime -- made us sweat out the closest collective results to get to basketball's promised land since 1979.

It was an edge-of-your-seat weekend for Michigan State, seven other teams and millions of fans. It was an edge-of-your-seat weekend for Michigan State, seven other teams and millions of fans. A total victory margin of 21 points got North Carolina, Illinois, Louisville and Michigan State to Arch Madness. All four regional finals were decided by single digits, with Michigan State-Kentucky throwing drama's trump card on the table in double overtime at the Austin Regional. Admit it. You spent Sunday asking your neighbor, "Did you see those games yesterday?"

Our dark horse pick has go to be Michigan St. In reaching their fourth Final Four in the past seven seasons, the 2004-05 Spartans provided their fans with a double heaping of thrills they won't soon forget. In the span of two weeks, Tom Izzo's crew went from being the team that couldn't win the big one to the team that's now knocked off two huge ones in a row -- top seed Duke and second-seeded Kentucky -- by making the type of clutch plays down the stretch that had managed to elude them for nearly two full seasons.

Michigan St.

Lines are Up, and you can bet on all the final 4 at the following ncaa hoops sportsbooks.

PGA - Another Delayed Tournament

Happy Monday morning to you all. Sorry for the lack of posts here the last 48 hours, but we've all been overworked and underpaid lately so I give the crew the weekend off. (COMPLETLY). We're all back at it here and rarin to go. So lets get at it shall we? The third round of the Players Championship was suspended on Sunday as more storms left the TPC at Sawgrass unplayable. A long Monday is in store for the players. Since the final group on Sunday only completed three holes, golfers will be in position on Monday morning. The plan is to finish the third round, then get the final round in before darkness. Monday's forecast is good so if the course is ready Monday morning, they should avoid the first Tuesday finish on tour since the 1980 Joe Garagiola Tucson Open.

Luke Donald and Joe Durant, who were part of the four-player group in first at the midway point, are each one-under through three holes in the third round and are 11-under par for the championship. Defending champion Adam Scott is three-under through four holes in the third round. He has moved into a tie for second place at 10-under par with second- round co-leaders Tim Herron (four holes) and Lee Westwood (three holes). ESPN
