Oklahoma baseball coach resigns - Gee Wonder Why??
Somebody needs to wash his mouth out with soap. Actually this is a story from Oklahoma, things are a little different down there. Larry Cochell met with Oklahoma president David Boren for two hours Sunday evening. But the 65-year-old coaching veteran said he knew before the meeting began that his career at OU was over.

Cochell, who ranks eighth in all-time Division I victories, resigned as OU's baseball coach just five days after he used racially derogatory language in two separate interviews with ESPN announcers.

Boren once coaxed Cochell to stay at OU instead of leaving for Arizona State, the coach's alma mater. Cochell had recently signed a four-year contract extension. But reports surfaced Friday that Cochell had used a racial epithet while speaking with ESPN's Gary Thorne and then again with Kyle Peterson before Tuesday's game against Wichita State.

LPGA Caddy Claims Lady Golfer Stole His Sperm

This is just whacked. Gary Robinson, the former caddy of LPGA golfer Jackie Gallagher-Smith is suing his former boss, saying she seduced the poor guy in order to get pregnant. More specifically Robinson claims Gallagher-Smith, who is married, used him as "an unwitting sperm donor" and is suing for an unspecified sum, claiming fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to Robinson's attorney, Cathy Lively, under Florida law a child born into a marriage is deemed to be a result of the marriage, so a DNA test can't be forced to determine paternity and Robinson has no legal claim to the child. In the lawsuit, Robinson claims he and Gallagher-Smith started flirting on tour, then the flirting turned into frequent unprotected sex over several months.

NBA rundown

Until Shaquille O'Neal's sore thighs get better, Dwyane Wade is quite capable of leading the Miami Heat past anyone in the NBA playoffs, even sweeping them. Wade more than filled the void of O'Neal's scoreless first half by scoring a career playoff-high 34 points and setting up the big guy for most of his 17 second-half points as the Heat completed a first-round sweep of the New Jersey Nets with a 110-97 win Sunday.

Rasheed Wallace was a thorn in Philadelphia's side, scoring eight of his 17 points in overtime to lead the Detroit Pistons past the 76ers, 97-92, in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals at the Wachovia Center. Chauncey Billups recorded 25 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Pistons, who have a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series with Game 5 slated for Tuesday night at The Palace. Richard Hamilton netted 20 points and Tayshaun Prince added 17, as the Pistons overcame a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

Joe Johnson poured in 25 points and Shawn Marion finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds, as the Phoenix Suns completed a sweep of the Memphis Grizzlies with a 123-115 victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference quarterfinals at the FedEx Forum. Steve Nash added 24 points and nine assists for the Suns, who swept a best-of- seven series for the first time in franchise history. Phoenix's last sweep came against Portland in a best-of-five set during the 1995 postseason.

Ray Allen scored a playoff career high 45 points to lead the Seattle SuperSonics to a 115-102 victory over the Sacramento Kings in Game 4 of the Western Conference quarterfinals at ARCO Arena. The Sonics grabbed a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven set and can close it out when the series heads back to Seattle for Game 5 on Tuesday.

The Kentucky Derby Preview #3

Bet On Horses

Check back every day right here for more updates and information on the The Kentucky Derby - May 7th - at 6pm Eastern.

The Kentucky Derby Festival - It started with "two minutes' and became two weeks. What the "Run for the Roses" is to horse racing, Louisville's Derby Festival is to community celebrations. The Festival is one of the premiere events of its kind in the world. It brings fun, excitement, international recognition and a spirit that is unmatched anywhere. When 1.5 million people gather to celebrate spring and the unique vitality of their community, the focus is on fun and the whimsical. "We are a community organization of 4,000 volunteers who work all year to provide quality entertainment that brings our entire community together," said Festival Chairman and volunteer Doug Hamilton. Produced annually since 1956, the Derby Festival has become a whirlwind of 70 special events.

The Festival blasts off with the Opening Ceremonies - Thunder Over Louisville, the nation's largest annual fireworks extravaganza! The ensuing weeks of excitement and entertainment promise something for everyone. For sports fans there is basketball, volleyball, football, golf and more. For music lovers the concerts are almost non-stop. With two-thirds of the Festival events free, families can enjoy numerous just-for-kids activities without stretching their pocketbook. Other highlights include a new full and half Marathon and the Great Balloon Race. The Great Steamboat Race pitting Historic register riverboats is the last of its kind in the world.

From country and rock concerts to the elegant Derby Ball, dance and dress range from frivolous to fancy. The Festival includes several formal affairs, as well a casual, foot-stomping good times. More than just entertaining, the Derby Festival generates over $93 million annually for the local economy. Festival events also raise nearly $300,000 for area charities each year. The Commonwealth's largest single annual event, and one of Louisville's most popular entertainment attractions, the celebration is produced by Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc., a private, not-for-profit civic organization. Poker King's Dream of Kentucky Derby Derailed
The 131st running of the Derby, Saturday, May 7 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., should have another full field of 20 talented, promising 3-year-olds hoping to wear the roses on Saturday afternoon. The field will be determined on Wednesday, when entries are announced. As of now, 21 horses are pointing for the race, but only 20 will be allowed to start.

Not starting, is Ross McLeod's horse, General John B., who sprained his ankle during a training job at Santa Anita Park in California but a few days ago. Ross McLeod is executive chairman of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation and says, "I'm a poker player, but I don't even play any more. I'm so into horses." Oh well, it looks like at a shot at this year's Kentucky Derby just wasn't in the cards for this Canadian poker king. Only two Canadian-bred horses have ever won the Kentucky Derby -- Northern Dancer in 1964 and Sunny's Halo in 1983.

Petrovic wins first PGA TOUR title in New Orleans

Twelve years after he went broke, gave up golf and went to work making and delivering pizzas, he had his first PGA TOUR victory.

Petrovic completed the long journey by holing a 4-foot par putt to beat rookie James Driscoll on the first hole of a playoff in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. DiMarco, the third-round leader, bogeyed No. 18 to finish a stroke back along with Lucas Glover. DiMarco, playing his first event since losing to Tiger Woods in a playoff at Augusta National, shot a 72. Glover had a 69.

Petrovic said he'd have lots of time to savor his victory. He just bought an RV to travel in and had a 12-hour drive to Charlotte for the Wachovia Championship.

Jeff Gordon Wins Again

Aaron's 499 | Talladega Superspeedway

Jeff Gordon led 139 laps, which allowed him to miss both multi-car accidents, on his way to victory in Sunday's Aaron's 499 at Talladega. It was his 72nd career win, leaving him four behind Dale Earnhardt for sixth place all-time. There was a time when Jeff Gordon didn't like restrictor-plate racing. No more.

He proved again yesterday that he is NASCAR's new king of racing at plate tracks, fighting off challenger after challenger on the way to winning the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in overtime.

Jeff has now cemented his place as the man to beat in the NEXTEL cup pts parade. On a side note I have no idea how Dale JR. missed out on all the crashes. That was crazy. It's too early to count him out thats for sure.
