Feagles sets NFL consecutive games record
New York Giants punter Jeff Feagles set the NFL record for consecutive games with his 283rd Sunday.

Feagles broke the record when he kicked a 39-yard punt with 7:35 left in the first quarter. Referee Larry Nemmers gave Feagles the ball, shook his hand and the two posed for a picture.

The record of 282 was previously held by defensive lineman Jim Marshall, who played from 1960-1969 with the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings.

Feagles, 39, has not missed a game in his 18-year career, playing for New England, Philadelphia, Arizona, Seattle and the Giants.

Feagles almost missed games last season and in 1999. Against the Eagles last year, Feagles was hit on a punt return by Philadelphia's Jeremiah Trotter, causing a concussion.

Coach Tom Coughlin said earlier this week he never thought Feagles would miss the Giants' next game. "He's a tough guy and I never really considered that." With Seattle in 1999, Feagles broke his arm against Pittsburgh, but had an extra week to heal because Seattle had a bye. AP

Edmonton Wins The CFL Grey Cup
Grey Cup

It was Ricky Ray's day and one of the Edmonton Eskimos' most spectacular Grey Cup wins.

Ray threw for two touchdowns, ran for another and helped set up Sean Fleming's 36-yard field goal in the second round of overtime to give the Eskimos a thrilling 38-35 win over the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday. It was Edmonton's second Grey Cup title in three years and 13th overall.

Cowboys Owner In The News

The Philadelphia Eagles have filed a tampering complaint against the Dallas Cowboys after Dallas owner Jerry Jones suggested on a radio show that his team is often interested in players such as suspended wide receiver Terrell Owens.

"In general, I am a risk-taker. We've gone down that road," Jones said when asked if the Cowboys might be interested in Owens. "I probably have a propensity to try and make things work.

A top receiver could flourish with Drew Bledsoe. That's always appealing."

NFL spokesman Michael Signora confirmed Sunday the Eagles filed the complaint over Jones' remark and said "the matter is under review." NFL bylaws prohibit "any interference by a member club with the employer-employee relationship of another club or any attempt by a club to impermissibly induce a person to seek employment with that club or with the NFL."

The Eagles' complaint was first reported by Fox.

Michael Irvin's Peace Pipe

I'm not completly sure what to make of this story. For one do we ever really belive pro or ex pro athletes when something like this happens? 2. Has Micheal completly rid himself of his past?

Its just a crazy situation! Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after Plano police officers searched his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Irvin, an ESPN analyst and semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, told The Associated Press that the drug pipe found in his car belonged to a friend of 17 years who left a Houston rehab center and came to Irvin’s house in Carrollton for Thanksgiving. Irvin wouldn’t reveal his friend’s name.

Irvin said he put the pipe in his car because he didn’t want it in his house where his children might find it. He said he planned to drive the next day, find something like a grocery trash bin and throw the pipe away but forgot.

“It’s a situation that is not as it seemed,” said Irvin, whose voice was choked with emotion during the telephone conversation.
