Nascar Is For Rednecks

Oh look another nascar crash - BORING

I'm sorry but after watching the weekend highlights from the bordeom that is nascar I just have to say. "You think Hockey sucks? Try to watch Nascar for a few minutes. Its now starting to resemble bumper cars. There's a cliche that goes something like this. "I went to see a bunch of rednecks throw helmuts at each other, and a car race broke out".

Ryan Newman bumped his way past Tony Stewart to take a chippy first chapter in the chase for the championship. Newman slipped inside Stewart with two laps to go Sunday and held on to win the heated NASCAR Sylvania 300, the opening race in the "Chase for the Nextel Cup." It was the 12th career win and first this season for Newman. NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said after the race that penalties against several drivers involved in incidents Sunday would be announced by Tuesday, at the latest.

''We're going to do whatever we need to do, whether it's to park a guy for a week or park a guy for nine weeks,'' Hunter said. ''We're going to do whatever we need to do to prevent retaliation on the racetrack, particularly under the caution (flag), because under the caution they're endangering other people. What you need to do Jim is tell them not to bring their attitudes to the track with them. This sport just cracks me up. Give me Formula 1 and Indy any day.

Monday Night Football Free Bet

Washington (1-0-0) at Dallas (1-0-0)
Monday, September 19, 2005 9:00 PM EDT
Field - Turf of Texas Stadium
Dallas are 6 point favorites. The total for this game has been set at 36.

The NFC East rivals take the stage on Monday night with the Cowboys set to induct the "Big Three" of quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Emmitt Smith and wide receiver Michael Irvin into the team's Ring of Honor. The three helped the Cowboys win three Super Bowl titles in four years (1991-94).

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder lured Gibbs out of retirement to help end their struggles against the Cowboys. But Gibbs has lost his last eight matchups against Parcells, including both meetings in 2004.

Their last meeting was December 26, 2004 and the Redskins have been waiting for their chance to avenge that 13-10 loss ever since. Sporting a 1-0 overall record and a 0-0 mark within the division, the Redskins aim to knock the Cowboys (0-0 in the division) for a loss. The Cowboys are favored, opening as 6-point chalk, with an opening total of 36. They are 1-0 ATS this season and 0-1 OU. The Redskins are 0-1 ATS and are 0-1 OU. The Redskins come off a 9-7 win against Chicago, a game where they were a 4.5-point favorites. The game went under the closing total of 33. Quarterback Patrick Ramsey was forced out of the contest with a slight concussion. Meanwhile, at Qualcomm Stadium, the underdog Cowboys were winning against San Diego 28-24. The game was a Dallas cover and an over play.

NFL Player of the Week

Donovan McNabb, QB, Philadelphia: McNabb entered this week's start against San Francisco with a bruised chest and a questionable off-field relationship with WR Terrell Owens. He finished it with 342 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-3 blowout over the 49ers. McNabb, who completed 23-of-29 passes (79 percent), found Owens five times for 143 yards and two scores. TE L.J. Smith broke out for nine catches, 119 yards and one TD, WR Greg Lewis scored his first TD of the season, and RB Brian Westbrook found the end zone on a two-yard pass from the veteran. With Daunte Culpepper in a horrible rut and no real fireworks from Peyton Manning thus far, McNabb has been the best of the preseason "Big 3" at his position through two weeks.
